Vacationing in Washington D.C.

We packed our bags and headed to Washington D.C. for our first family vacation. Being able to spend an entire week with Kayla and Kent was definitely the best part of this vacation for me! As a working mom, I usually only have the weekend and a couple hours every evening to play with Kayla so being able to to spend an entire week with her was wonderful. She even turned into a Mommy's girl during the trip which made me happy :)

I was a little nervous about getting through security and sitting on a plane for 3 hours with a little one but that was a breeze compared to installing the rented car seat into our rental car. Let's just say we'll be bringing our own for now on!

Once we had the car seat issue straightened out, we headed straight to Ethan and Debbie's house - our kind and generous hosts for the night. We enjoyed catching up with them over a great dinner before heading back to their place to put Kayla to bed. The next morning we loaded the car and headed out to meet Mo for brunch before driving south to Williamsburg to meet up with Gigi and Gramps.

Chilling out in Williamsburg

So, there was a heat wave while we were here...don't worry, I put lots of sun screen on her!

After spending the day walking through this historic town we headed back to the big city to see some of the sites...

Thursday evening we headed over to Katie and Rich's house to catch up with family. We had a great time seeing everyone...too bad we don't live closer so we can visit more often!!!

Friday came before we knew it and that meant it was time to fly home. While we all enjoyed the trip (other than the heat wave), it was nice to be back home and sleep in our own beds again!

Huge thanks to Gigi and Gramps for joining us on this trip and helping with Kayla!!!

9 Months!

Our baby girl is growing up fast and we're enjoying every second! She's crawling all over the place and pulling up on everything she can. She can even climb up on the couch. Yes, we have a climber on our hands. We bought Kayla her own little chair and placed it up against the couch so it wouldn't flip over when she crawled on it. Well, i guess that wasn't a good idea because it only took her about 30 minutes to realize that she could climb all the way on to the couch. Once she's on the couch she tries to climb up on the end tables. Time for some major Kayla-proofing!

Having fun at William's birthday party

Hi there!

Ready to go swimming at Gigi's house

As you can see, we've been spending alot of our time in the water lately. Lucky for us, Kayla loves the water!

Mother's Day

I find myself talking about all of Kayla's "firsts" but this time it's Momma's turn....my first Mother's Day as a Mom. According to Wikipedia, a Mother is a woman who has conceived, given birth, and raised a child. I think it's going to take many years to raise this little girl but the first 8 months have been amazing. I'm not sure why or how I became so lucky to be blessed with this beautiful little daughter, but I wouldn't trade her for the world!

Kayla's first swim (yes, those are her clothes...who says you have to wear a swimsuit?!

Mommy wasn't going to miss out on the fun

Who said swimming was hard? I can do it with my eyes closed

Looks like Kayls loves her new friend, "Pete the Turtle"

Well, maybe not....
