March Madness...

I'm sure you are thinking college basketball by the title of this post and the fact that Kayla is wearing a UK (University of Kentucky) hoodie in support of Gramps' alma mater, but I'm actually referring to our life this past month... What a busy but FUN month it has been!

Here are some pics from earlier in the month....

I love them!!!!

Silly girl....you're not supposed to eat your bib

Look who's holding herself up all on her very own! Mommy's not ready for this!

Kent's dad's birthday falls on March 17th (St. Patrick's Day) so we went over to his parent's house that evening for dinner with the entire family (except for Uncle Matt who lives in Dallas). Look at all the fun you missed, Uncle Matt...

Later that week, Kayla and I headed up to Spring to get together with four friends from my old soccer team, Challenge 81-82. We had such a wonderful time meeting all the new little babies and catching up with everyone. It's hard to believe we are all moms now...Can't wait to get together with everyone again!!!

Oddly enough, the very next night I had my alumni game/7v7 tourny at Rice. All I can say about that is....ouch! I quickly realized that I am nowhere close to being in the shape I used to be. I pretty much knew that going into it but now I KNOW it. Other than trying to catch my breath the entire time, it was a blast. Luckily, I get to see some of these girls at our monthly dinners, but it was nice to get everyone together as we tried to relive the glory days...

Our fans...Kayla with Gigi and Gramps

Kayla came down to the field to meet everyone...who knows, maybe she'll be playing on this field in another 20 years!

Kayla and I have missed Aunt Ashley. She keeps busy coaching and teaching High School so we were excited that she could make it!

And last, but not least, Kent and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary this month. Gigi and Gramps graciously babysat Kayla for us so we could enjoy a nice dinner at Mark's (yum!). When we went to pick her up the next day, Kayla surprised us with a wonderful scrapbook that she had made for us (thanks to Gigi for helping her put it together).

Here's Kayla showing us all the wonderful pictures in our scrapbook!

6 Months!

Happy 6 months, Kayla! We love you to pieces!!!

It's hard to believe that she is already 6 months...it feels like just yesterday when we brought her home. Well, maybe like a month or two ago but you get the idea. She is growing up so fast! The past couple months we've been able to see more and more of her personality start to come out. Here are just a few of the highlights:
  • This girl loves to smile (most of the time)!
  • We have to give Kayla her own washcloth during bathtime or she will steal ours then get upset when we take it back (Gigi, unfortunately, learned this the hard way)
  • She loves sweet potatoes, peas, and applesauce but was not a fan of bananas. That could be because it was her first thing to have. We'll definitely try it again!
  • When eating, she likes to put the whole spoon in her hand then put it in her mouth. Then she'll suck the food off of her fingers. Messy but effective :)
  • She's now sitting up on her very own!
  • She'll lift and turn her head to look at the door when we get home and smile when she sees us (even if she is taking a little cat nap).
  • She hasn't quite figured out that she shouldn't jump around after eating her breakfast (let's just say it causes quite the spit-up)

Here are some of her most recent pics....

Our Valentine!

Just doing a little afternoon reading...

Enough of that...it's time to play with Mommy!

mmmm...this red triangle is delicious!

All smiles!

Please excuse my runny nose...

But I won't let that stop me from swinging!

Good morning! We love waking up and seeing this beautiful smile every morning!

First time sitting up all on my own! I wonder why Mommy decided to test it out on my changing table...guess she just knew I could do it.

Hey there...wanna play with me?!

All ready for bed!
Thanks for reading!
